Have you ever felt like you have lost yourself amidst your daily grind?
The world seems to move faster and faster each year. As we try to keep up and take on more and more responsibilities and burdens, we often get caught up in the busyness of everyday life. We can go faster and do more and more yet feel like we are no closer to achieving our dreams than we were weeks or even years ago.
I have struggled with this constant doing, going and achieving without ever feeling like I was truly being. This is exactly why I wrote The Whole Cure and designed the accompanying virtual Whole Cure Lifestyle Transformation Programs so that I could share the skills I have cultivated and taught to my patients with you!

Do you feel like you are truly living your passionate purpose?
How would your life change if you starting following your intuition more than outside messages?
Daily tasks can become overwhelming when we are disconnected from ourselves, our communities and our passions. We can lose our sense of magic, imagination, joy and wonder. Our lives can be crammed with to-dos but begin to lack a sense of purpose.
True satisfaction and happiness arise when we start re-connecting with the passion and purpose that gives our life direction and meaning.
Your happiness and contentment naturally expand when you live in alignment with your inner wisdom. This gives you a life filled with meaning and value!
I invite you to begin to find your authentic self by bringing awareness to this purposeful direction.
The Three Keys to Finding Yourself in Your Busy Life
Listen
Your life is always speaking to you, guiding you toward fulfillment. You may not always recognize a clear vision or have a complete understanding of your path , but learning to slow down and listen within helps you to hear the subtle sense that you are where you need to be, doing what needs to be done.
You know you are listening within to your core self when you feel right, decisions are easy and there is no struggle.

Live on Purpose
How often do you get stuck on auto-pilot? With everything that needs to get done, you can get exhausted and rushed to simply complete the basic tasks before you.
Stepping back from this rush can help you choose to live a more purposeful life. When you are living your life on purpose you are aligned with your passionate purpose. This allows you to follow your true calling, and life flows with ease.
Determining your passionate purpose is a process. You need to remain open to discovery and committed to creation.
Consider:
What matters most to you?
What talents and gifts do you have?
What are you most enthusiastic about in life?
Journal about or meditate on these ideas regularly and see what arises. Use these insights to create a statement and vision for how you choose to live your life on purpose.
Seek Inner Validation
Being an achiever is an integral part of many of peoples’ identities. When you fall into the trap of always trying to please others, other’s expectations can drive and confine your decisions.
Do you feel the freedom to live your life on purpose, without worrying so much about what others might perceive or whether you are doing what others think you should?
While listening to other people’s ideas and feedback can be a helpful way to learn and develop, you have to remain aware that they bring preconceived notions as well.
Trust your gut, give yourself permission to grow and live your life on purpose.
To do this get in touch with what truly drives you. Allow yourself to start listening within and becoming comfortable with your intuition.
Yoga, meditation, and coaching are a few formal places you can start. You can also simply begin by exploring what you’re feeling in your body at the moment to start connecting your mind and body which allows your intuition to come forth more easily.
If you find this helpful, you can access more guided relaxation exercises utilizing the power of the breath here and in The Whole Cure.

I am so busy with caring for a sick father as well as myself, my work and my family that focusing on finding myself sometimes takes a back seat–however I do know how important it is to try to live a healthy, wholesome, balanced life. It’s not an option, it’s a necessity. Thank you for sharing Three Keys to Finding Yourself in Your Busy Life with us at the Healthy, Happy, Green and Natural Party Blog Hop. I’m Pinning and sharing!

Thank you Deborah! It takes a very strong woman, like yourself, to be able to care for others in such an intense way while still recognizing the value of and need for self-care.

Great reminders! It’s so easy to get lost in the day to day. And just one more reason why I NEED to try yoga! I just know it will help make a difference in my life.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Amanda! I hope you enjoy yoga as much as I do!
Amy
It is great advice. I wrote down those questions to meditate on every day. I have young kids and I do feel like life has been on autopilot for a while but that now it’s time to see if I can bring back a little focus. The question is where and how. So this will help. Thank you for sharing!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you so much Amy! I really hope you find the practice helpful in bringing greater meaning and insight to your life 🙂
Mari
Dr. Jennifer thanks for sharing over at Turn It Up. I practice Mindful living and it has helped me in so many areas in my life. Parents mostly moms must learn to care for themselves too and not get lost in just the parenting roll. 🙂
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Mari! That is very wise. Your children are so lucky!
Cassi
I’ve lost creativity over the years and can’t seem to find it again. Now that I’ve found my passion and purpose in wellness coaching it’s really difficult to more forward, especially with an unsupportive spouse.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Cassi! I am sorry you are struggling to find creativity. I hope you get the support you deserve to continue doing great work! If I can support you or collaborate in any way, just let me know 🙂

I love the part where you say to trust your gut. Absolutely! We all have a gut instinct for a reason…it’s always in our best interest to respect what it’s telling us.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Kimberly! I totally agree that our intuitions are there to guide and serve us when we slow down enough to listen.
Runwright
Earlier this year, I started this journey to intentional living and I feel like I learn something new everyday. I realized I needed to create the life I want instead of just hoping opportunities would come my way. That’s how I was able to finally publish my first book and spend every day working on the next projects because writing and connecting is truly my gift. That’s also why I have taken the leadership opportunity I’ve been given a lot more seriously.
I so enjoyed reading this post because every day requires a constant reminder to live my purpose with intentionality.
Will you publish print copies of your book?
http://runwright.net
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Congratulations on your shift and publishing your book! My book is available in print paperback on Amazon (http://amzn.to/1wqppEV) in addition to Kindle. I would love to hear what you think of it and will have to check yours out as well! Thank you 🙂
Elizabeth
Great advice! Thank you for the reminder to slow down! I constantly find myself on autopilot but I will keep working hard to live my life with a more defined purpose in mind and seeking inner validation.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Elizabeth! I also find myself slipping into that mindset, but try to remind myself often of the power of staying present.
Runaway Bridal Planner
Fabulous advice!!!!
Earlier this year I kinda did this, I sat back thought about where I was and where I was going and where I really wanted to go. Took it one step at a time and now I am back in school living a whole different kind of busy life, but this time one with better purpose and direction for the future.
I truly believe in meditation and self reflection, I literally just finished 5 hours of homework and in another hour I am going to be doing just that again, I’m finding it’s a great way to unwind from my day.
Thanks for joining the hop, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you better, you have a great blog!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you so much! Congratulations on taking new steps and following your purpose. It has been such a pleasure to participate in the blog hop. I am grateful for all of your work in putting it together 🙂
Lisa Runs for Cupcakes
Being in a new job, I know that I have put myself on the back burner the past few months. The last six weeks, I focused on finding more time for me and I am so much happier for it. I just downloaded headspace in order to give meditation a try. I don’t know why I keep on coming up with excuses as to why I don’t have ten minutes for it each morning. Baby steps, I suppose!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
I am so glad you have found more time for you despite your other responsibilities. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience Lisa!
Madhuri
So very true! Loved the theme of the article. Sometimes we just got to put a pause on life n re-evaluate it – our goals, our dreams and also our happiness quotient. Glad to have gotten to know you through the Blog Hop.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Madhuri! I am so glad to have had the chance to discover your blog and get to know you too via the Blog Hop 🙂
Nicola Running Happy
Slowing down and listening, good advice!
I think I need to slow down a bit as I think that might mean I get more done!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Nicola! It is so true that sometimes what we need to be more productive is to actually slow down.
Sarah
Yes, SLOWING DOWN. Thank you! I’ve been focusing on that a lot lately – it’s making my life so much better. Stopping by from the blog hop – thanks for joining (http://www.roaringmamalion.com)
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Sarah! I can always use some encouragement to slow down too and notice the difference it makes. Glad to connect via the Blog Hop 🙂
Karien
Yes! I’m really making an effort to live on purpose and aligned to my passions – a work in progress, but definitely where I want to be!
http://www.runningtherace.co.za
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Karien! It is a work in progress for me too, but I always feel a shift when I act in greater alignment.
Elysha Lenki
I love the bit about listening. I meditate every day just for this reason…it gives me the time to really feel what’s going on inside my body, and align with my truth.
http://elyshalenkin.com/blog/
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Elysha! I am glad you appreciate the power of meditation and slowing down to listen to. I agree that it has been a powerful force in my life as well!
Janelle
Really great advice. I have not tried meditation but hear great things about it. I know that I sometimes put too much pressure on myself and fall into the comparison trap. I need to do a better job of trusting my gut!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Janelle! That is such an easy trap to fall into too, but it can be so encouraging to trust your own intuition.
Mandie
Thank you for the reminder to check in on our value systems and goals to make sure that everything is appropriately aligned!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thanks Mandie! I find that reminding myself of my core values helps me to live in greater alignment with what really matters to me.
Chaitali
So true! Great tips, especially the one about living on purpose. I find myself on auto-pilot a lot but I am working on trying to be more mindful 🙂
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Chaitali! For me it is a work in progress to stay more in the moment.
Lauren Boldizar
I have loved getting to know you from the blog hop! Such great advice! Listening is so key!! And thank you for inspiring me to get back to yoga!
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Lauren! I am glad to have found you and your blog through the Blog Hop as well 🙂
Wendy Hammond
Such great advice! It’s so easy to live life on autopilot without even noticing it. I go through seasons of living intentionally and then somehow I slip into routines. It is definitely a practice to stay intentional.
Dr. Jennifer L. Weinberg, MD, MPH, MBE
Thank you Wendy! I agree. For me, it is an ongoing practice to live more intentionally and observe the difference it makes!
