Take a Breath of Fresh Air
There is something so invigorating about moving your body outdoors! As the temperature gets milder, head outdoors for your workouts. Engaging in a fun activity outdoors gives you the added benefits of the healing power of nature as well as time to breathe in some fresh air.
Whether you enjoy gardening, taking a hike, going for a bike ride or playing a sport with your kids or friends, this is the perfect time to take advantage of the weather and boost your mood by heading outdoors.
According to a study in the International Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology, walking in the woods or “forest bathing” lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system and may help prevent chronic diseases like cancer. The spring is a wonderful time to soak in these benefits!
It is also important to keep your indoor air healthy and free of allergens, dust and toxins by utilizing a high-quality air purifier (I use this one!).
Reboot Your Pantry
When you stock your kitchen with healthy options, you reduce the temptation to give into unbalanced cravings. Having a neat pantry that is stocked with items that support your health goals makes it easier to stick with your healthy eating habits and a Simple Pure Whole way of nourishment.
Get rid of anything that might hinder your intentions–throw out old, stale and overly processed foods. Remove anything fake, artificial or packed with preservatives.
Then restock with real-food options that fit your body and individualized needs. Choose foods with five or fewer ingredients that you recognize and can pronounce. As you fill your pantry, aim for re-stocking with mostly whole foods, minimizing processed or packaged options.
A well-stocked, organized pantry is the first step toward making cooking pleasurable and simple. We can work together to simplify and detox your pantry and kitchen in a virtual guided Simple Pure Whole Home Detox program!
Re-evaluate Your Goals
As spring approaches, it is a great time to reevaluate your goals and see where you are at. It has been a few months since you committed to your New Year’s goals and you still have plenty of opportunities ahead of you to reach them.
Take some time to assess how your goals are coming along.
- What has worked well?
- What have you accomplished so far?
- How are you feeling about the progress you have made?
Assess your current status and where you want to go from here.
- Is there something holding you back?
- Is it time to shift strategies?
- Could you use some additional support?
If you are not quite where you would like to be, investigate why and figure out strategies to improve your situation.
Declutter Your Mind
In addition to taking time to clean out your pantry, freshen up your closets and reorganize the garage, spring is a great time to re-appreciate the power of stillness in your life. With our busy lives and all the noise around us all the time, it can be easy to get overwhelmed and caught up in anxiety and confusion.
With practice and awareness, you can learn to sit in stillness and quiet the mind. Slowing down gives you the space to think more clearly, make more meaningful decisions and develop greater emotional intelligence. It allows you to combine contemplation with decided action to produce solutions that integrate knowledge and emotion.
- Eat mindfully: Instead of simply eating at the scheduled meal time and rushing through your food while on the go, try slowing down and paying attention to your body and hunger.
- Take some time each day to center yourself, take some deep breaths and reconnect with the present moment.
- Try the mindfulness exercises and wellness prescriptions in Chapter 6 of The Whole Cure to train your mind to slow down and find peace in the ease of the present moment (affilaite link).
Cleaning up your health and environment involves taking simple steps to live more mindfully. Get started with a virtual guided Simple Pure Whole Home Detox to help simplify your life, make more mindful choices, cleanse your body rebalance your hormones, weight and blood sugar, improve your energy and focus and prevent future disease!
